Councillors Discuss Burntisland Station Parking Proposals Today

Today (30.8.18.) Burntisland’s three councillors will discuss the Burntisland Station Parking Feasibility study with Fife Council officials.

“A brief was issued to Roads & Lighting Contracts team from Asset Management & Sustainable Transport to provide outline designs and cost for car park layout options, i.e. 50, 75 and 100 spaces on an area of land adjacent to Burntisland Railway Station. The feasibility should consider the following:

  • Vehicle, cycle and pedestrian access to the car park
  • Pedestrian access to the station from the car park
  • Pedestrian access to the rest of the town from the car park
  • Drop off / taxi point
  • Potential bus stop
  • Cycle parking
  • EV charging point
  • Parking for disabled users
  • Options to extend car park in the future”
  • The 17 page report doesn’t actually cover all these but details several options to spend up to £708,372.80 providing car parking.

The plans show parking on the wildflower area in front of Platform Studios an idea which has proved controversial in recent weeks.
