Café Inc Comes to Burntisland Primary

Following an initial trial period in the Cowdenbeath area, Cafe Inc will now expand across all seven Fife Council Local Area Committee areas( Burntisland is in Kirkcaldy A C). It will run from 1st July until 16th August, from Monday to Friday, 11:45 am – 1 pm

Food is prepared in specific hub schools before being transported to each venue. The scheme will be closely monitored to ensure supply meets demand and minimise food waste. Children Scotland will provide an evaluation of the scheme so that lessons can be learned from what is a year long trial.

Cllr Judy Hamilton, Convenor of the Community and Housing Services Committee, said: “We provide free school meals during term time for over 9,000 pupils across Fife. But we know that there’s a lot of pressure on all families during the school holidays. There is voluntary and third sector provision available and we will continue to work with them but we really wanted to extend that help to everyone.

Children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.
